ДЖОНС и ДЖЕДЖС. Лондонское население в конце XVII в.

Весной 1695 г. в Лондоне был введен налог на браки, рождения, похороны, на холостяков и вдовцов. Списки по приходам плательщиков, дополненные годовыми отчетами сборщиков этого налога, - первоклассный источник для статистики населения. Полученные цифровые данные сведены в статье в таблицы. Автор очень высоко оценивает работы Грегори Книга, пользовавшегося этим источником (дан очерк методов его работы), и отмечает методологические ошибки статистиков начала XIX в., в их оценках движения населения Лондона.
